NP ISO 9001:2008 QUALITY CERTIFICATION

 

 

As a Group operating in a challenging, competitive and complex sector, such as the Pharmaceutical Industry, where rational decisions and optimised solutions, based on a systematic approach, are key to ensuring sustainable growth, TECNIFAR felt the need to implement a Quality Management System (QMS) in 2009.

 

Through the continuous implementation of methodologies and procedures aimed at ensuring the high quality levels we are committed to maintaining, the QMS allows TECNIFAR to build solid relationships with customers and better meet their expectations. 

 

The QMS consists of a series of organisational measures whose purpose is to ensure compliance with the most stringent quality standards. Efficient allocation of resources and responsibilities allow TECNIFAR to accomplish its quality goals.

 

The TECNIFAR Quality Management System achieved NP ISO 9001:2008 certification in 2016.

ALIGNMENT WITH ISO 26000 STANDARD

 

Over the years, TECNIFAR has consistently focused on Social Responsibility issues, being included in the Group’s management model and business development strategy, in compliance with international guidelines, as established by the NP ISO 26000 Standard – Social Responsibility Guidelines. Governance, human rights, labour practices, the working environment, fair operating/employment/labour/trading practices, consumer-related issues, involvement in the community and local development are some of the social responsibility issues included in the Group’s management model

 

GOVERNANCE

 

How do we make decisions in order to achieve our goals and targets?

 

We do business in accordance with the principles and guidelines included in our Code of Ethics and Conduct. Additionally, we have implemented an Integrated Management System that ensures that stakeholder input is considered as well as social responsibility issues identified and addressed.

 

 

HUMAN RIGHTS

Every individual has the right to life, liberty, equality, freedom of expression, work, food, healthcare and education. How shall we act in order to ensure these rights are duly respected and protected? How can we motivate our suppliers, peers and the society to do the same?

 

We seek to fully comply with the law, having implemented adequate monitoring mechanisms for this purpose. Our Code of Ethics and Conduct includes guidelines concerning Human Rights, focusing on compliance with international conventions and declarations, namely regarding fundamental Human Rights.

 

 

LABOUR PRACTICES

 

Our relationships with our employees and companies in our value chain focus on issues such as recruitment and selection; induction and integration of new employees; employment contract conditions; professional conduct; health and safety at work; training and skills development; remuneration and benefits; disciplinary procedures and conflict resolution; and any other issues related to working conditions.

We strive to implement responsible labour practices, namely through the following:

 

 

  • Types of employment contracts (permanent and fixed-term, with a view to becoming permanent). We do not employ seasonal or temporary workers, except occasionally, when the need arises to replace an absent employee.

 

  • All services provided by external entities are rendered under the terms and conditions of service provision agreements; nevertheless, we only resort to external services occasionally, or in situations where the services of healthcare professionals are required.

 

  • Working conditions suited to the tasks involved are ensured and occupational health and safety policies implemented.

 

  • Employees are offered benefits and working conditions above the Portuguese average. We provide break rooms, a fully equipped canteen and daily fruit. Moreover, we have signed protocols with specialised entities in order to ensure TECNIFAR offers the best possible working environment and conditions.

 

  • Continuous training is provided across the Group, with a view to promoting employee development, fostering career advancement and increasing future employability, thus helping employees to realise their full potential.

 

 

  • All information and training provided to healthcare professionals is based on clinical trials and approved by independent entities, in compliance with applicable legislation and regulations.

 

 

ENVIRONMENT

 

How do our business activities and the decisions made by TECNIFAR impact the environment and how do we manage our business in order to eliminate or minimise environmental impact?

 

  • TECNIFAR ensures all IT equipment is reused, by sending it to the Group workshop where it is needed.

 

  • Separate containers are available for paper and plastic waste, as well as used printer toner and batteries, in order to ensure these materials are recycled.

 

  • Black-and-white, double-sided printing is set as the default mode on shared printers.

 

  • The majority of advertising materials is now produced on digital media, instead of paper.

 

 

FAIR OPERATING PRATICES

 

We adopt an ethical conduct in our relationships with stakeholders. Fair operating practices include anti-corruption practices, responsible involvement in public matters, fair competition and the promotion of good social responsibility practices across the value chain.

 

Our commitment to these issues is evidenced by the following:

 

  • The principles and guidelines included in our Code of Ethics and Conduct.

 

  • Our Code of Commercial Compliance.

 

  • TECNIFAR is a member of the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Industry Association – APIFARMA – and voluntarily complies with the respective Codes of Professional Conduct.

 

 

CONSUMERS

 

We seek to adopt a responsible attitude towards consumers by focusing on consumer health and safety and providing all required information and training in connection with our products/services. Moreover, TECNIFAR adopts fair contracting practices and seeks to ensure personal data is treated as confidential and suitably protected, in addition to promoting sustainable consumption and adopting fair operating practices.

 

TECNIFAR customers consist primarily of healthcare professionals and facilities, ranging from physicians, nurses, pharmacies and hospitals to authorised distributors and final users.

 

  • TECNIFAR focuses strongly on research and is currently developing a series of innovative projects on antibiotic therapy, in partnership with TechnoPhage. Given the current increase in antibiotic resistance, these projects are extremely relevant, as they may unveil new strategies for the treatment of infectious diseases.

 

  • All information and training provided to healthcare professionals is based on clinical trials and approved by independent entities, in compliance with applicable legislation and regulations.

 

  • The information provided to final users is essentially limited to that included in package leaflets, in accordance with applicable legislation.

 

  • Regarding product lifecycles, TECNIFAR seeks to implement good manufacturing practices, in order to ensure its medicinal products are produced and marketed in compliance with the most stringent Portuguese and European quality standards.

 

  • Aiming for continuous improvement, TECNIFAR ensures that all complaints are duly received, processed and analysed. Replies are sent to all complainants within an average of 30 days.

 

  • Concerned with protecting personal data, TECNIFAR has developed a series of mechanisms aimed at ensuring compliance with personal data protection laws.

 

 

COMMUNITY

 

TECNIFAR seeks to foster economic growth and social development in the communities where it operates, namely by creating jobs; investing in social programmes; generating wealth; organising educational and skills development programmes; helping to promote and preserve local cultures and the arts; providing support to local healthcare services along with other institutions; and implementing cultural, social and environmental programmes.

 

We are actively involved in the communities where we operate, namely through the following:

 

  • Projecto SMS que combina a capacidade profissional e a vontade pessoal de muitos profissionais de saúde para apoiar voluntariamente populações carenciadas em território nacional, através da prestação de cuidados básicos de saúde, rastreios gratuitos e ações de sensibilização.

 

  • Medical and Social Aid Project, where highly qualified healthcare professionals volunteer to provide support to disadvantaged populations in Portugal, by providing basic healthcare services and organising free screening programmes and awareness-raising events.

 

  • Promoção do desenvolvimento científico e tecnológico através da atribuição de prémios e bolsas de investigação científica, nomeadamente em cefaleias e epilepsia, investigação Clínica nas Unidades de Saúde Familiar e Neuropediatria.

 

  • Research grants and scholarships, namely concerning studies on headache and epilepsy, as well as Medical Research at Family and Paediatric Neurology Health Centres, with a view to driving scientific and technological development.

 

  • Donations to several institutions.

 

  • Implementation of programmes aimed at facilitating access to medicinal products, through the Medicine Bank. Moreover, TECNIFAR provides medicinal products to charitable organisations, in partnership with the Portuguese Authority for Medicinal and Healthcare Products (INFARMED), the Portuguese Charities Association and the Pharmaceutical Industry in general.
